Taming the Wind
This book is a compilation of Dr. Hornedo's essays about the Ethno-Cultural history of the Ivatans, the natives of Batanes. The author was a professor of literature and philosophy at the Ateneo de Manila. Being an Ivatan himself, he is very familiar with the topic about the Ivatans. He did not rely on his own knowledge but he expanded it -- spending a lot of time researching from sources that have documented the history of Batanes, from the records of archeological findings to the 17th-century accounts of the Spaniards and the Dutch to the present day historians.
This book documented the history of the Ivatans, the traditional houses, culture, rituals, livelihood and even the beliefs about the dead. There is an extensive account of the events that transpired during the time of the Katipunan and how the Ivatans participated.
