Cordillera Tales
by Maria Luisa Aguilar-Cariño
The stories gathered here come from various sources from among the tribes in the Cordillera; many of these have been collected by others like Fr. Morice Vanoverbergh and Claude R. Moss, whose interest was chiefly folkloric or anthropological. In retelling the stories here I have tried to use a clear and contemporary idiom while trying to hew as close as possible to the ‘spirit’ of the original story to communicate a sense of the life and tribal culture of the people of the Mountain Provinces.
